His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh

It is with great sadness that Kings Walden Parish Council has learned of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Parish Council and residents extend condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family.

Due to covid restrictions an online book of condolence has been set up for residents of Hertfordshire. You can find the book here at https://lord-lieutenant-herts.org.uk/remembrance-2/.  You can submit an entry, or view other entries.


New Councillor Co-opted

Cllr Brenda James has been co-opted to Kings Walden parish council to fill a vacancy in the Kings Walden ward. Cllr James is a Chartered Accountant and recently moved to the parish, she has worked in the area for 5 years.

The council still has one vacancy, for the Breachwood Green ward. Anyone on the electoral register or with association with the parish by way of residence or occupation, may apply to join. If you would like more information, please contact the clerk.

New Clerk Appointed

The council is delighted to announce that Lisa Lathane has been appointed to the role of clerk to the council following the retirement of Tom Brindley. Lisa is currently and will remain as, the clerk to Preston parish council. Tom will stay on as Responsible Financial Officer to achieve a smooth handover.

New Councillor Co-opted

Cllr Martin Mulgrew has been co-opted to Kings Walden parish council to fill a vacancy in Breachwood Green ward. Cllr Mulgrew lives in Breachwood Green, and moved into the area in 2020.

Parish Logo Competition

The parish council has adopted a logo, designed by Councillor Joe Graziano. The logo incorporates an owl, reflecting the carved owl outside Breachwood Green village hall.

Play Areas Open

The council has opened the Breachwood Green and Ley Green play areas.

Users are reminded to observe all Covid-19 restrictions:

  • Follow the current social distance guidelines and encourage your children to do the same.
  • If the playground is busy, consider coming back art a later time. Talk to your children about this before visiting.
  • Wash your and your children’s hands before and after visiting. Take hand sanitiser with you and consider taking a bottle of water to wash children’s hands.
  • Follow and adhere to all current government advice in addition to the above guidance.


The Breachwood Owl

The council has commissioned local artist Dave Flemons to carve the Breachwood Owl on the stump of an old maple tree in front of the Village Hall in Chapel Lane.

About The Parish

Kings Walden Parish Council serves the villages of Breachwood Green, Kings Walden and Ley Green and the hamlets of Darley Hall, Lawrence End, Diamond End, Wandon Green and Austage End in Hertfordshire.

The parish council is the lowest level of local government and comprises eight elected councillors and the clerk. The parish council is not connected with the church which has a separate website – see http://www.kingswaldenoffleylilley.com/st-mary-s-king-s-walden
